HMR Recipe - Banana Split Shake

Banana splits....they remind me of summertime on Cape Cod.  After a day at the beach, we would go out to get ice cream at the local ice cream shop...banana splits were always a favorite!  Now that I am older (and wiser), I don't indulge in banana splits like I did as a kid.  But, this recipe will make you feel like a kid again...and keep you on track with your weight loss goals!

Banana Split Shake Recipe (recipe from Facebook/HMR Diet)

You will need:describe the image

  • 1 packet HMR 70+ Vanilla (or 120, 500 or 800)
  • 1 packet HMR 70+ Chocolate (or 120, 500 or 800)
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup strawberries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 cup pineapple
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup ice

Directions:

Pour water in blender.  Add shake mixes and blend.  Add fruit and blend.  Add ice and blend to desired consistency.  If shake is too thick, add a little water until you reach desired consistency.  If using frozen fruit, you may not need as much ice.

Bon Apetit!

this sounds delicious but uses 3 fruits. i usually don't use fruit in my shakes as feel i need fruit and vegetables to have in meals or snacks. using 3 for shake, leaves only 2 left for the day. i also think this adds a lot of calories. am i looking at this in the wrong way?

Hi Patsy...thank you for your comment and your questions. Yes, this recipe uses 2 shakes and 3 fruits. This recipe will make a big shake with lots of volume. We often recommend double shakes to our clients; they can drink some at that time and save some for later either in the fridge or in an insulated container. As far as the total number of your fruits and vegetables are concerned, remember 5 servings per day is the minimum. We encourage our clients to have 8, 9, 10 or even more servings per day. More is better with your "in the box" foods, such as fruits and vegetables. They provide excellent nutrition in a low-calorie, high volume package. The calorie estimate for this shake is from 430 - 450, depending on if you use fresh, frozen or canned fruit. Remember, if you do use canned fruit, buy fruit canned in it's own juice. If you are concerned about making a shake that is too big, you could always eliminate one of the shake packets or have 1/2 cup of fruit instead of a full cup serving. You will still have a delicious, nutritious shake that will keep you full!
