65% of Americans Overweight and Obese - Do We Need National Pancake Day?

I don't know where I've been, but apparently I have been out of the pancake loop since 2006. So it came as a surprise to me when, surfing the net, I saw this news:
About National Pancake Day, February 24, 2009
Since beginning its National Pancake Day celebration in 2006, IHOP has raised nearly two million dollars to support charities in the communities in which it operates. With your help, we hope to raise $1,000,000 for Children's Miracle Network in 2009!
National Pancake Day?
For a good cause -Indeed, the Children's Miracle Network helps sick children and supports prevention and health education...
but I can't help pointing out the irony in this:
IHOP Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity Pancakes
865 Calories, 45g fat, 1577mg sodium
IHOP Fruity Country Griddle Cakes
945 Calories, 56g fat, 1933mg sodium
IHOP Banana Nut Pancakes
957 Calories, 31g fat, 752mg sodium
IHOP Harvest Grain & Nut Pancakes
1030 Calories, 65g fat, 2063mg sodium
Thank goodness IHOP is concerned about the health of our communities...Imagine what they might concoct if they just didn't care?!!
Maybe their Latest Special: Butterscotch Rocks Pancakes
4 fluffy pancakes filled with pecans, granola and butterscotch chips topped with whipped cream and caramel sauce...
Hope you have some time on your hands 'cause it's gonna take you 286 minutes (almost 5 hours) of walking to burn off your breakfast...
A message from Full Life to the folks at IHOP - if you really want to do something good for the health of your community - why don't you just close for the day?
