We are having a little cold snap - right in the middle of the spring warm up - and it makes facing a frosty cold shake a little bit challenging this morning. So here's an idea that will get you going with a BIG bang of protein, whole grains, vitamins and minerals... (and counts as 2 shakes, too!)
You will need:
1 Packet HMR Multigrain Cereal
1 Cup Water
1 Scoop HMR 120 Vanilla Shake Mix
Pour cereal mix into a bowl or large mug, add 1 cup of water and microwave on high for 90 seconds. Stir in 1 scoop HMR 120 Vanilla shake mix, adding a few more drops of water if needed. Microwave on high another 30 seconds. Stir and enjoy!
You can sprinkle a little cinnamon or apple pie spice on top for a little extra flavor, or sweeten with brown sugar splenda, or sugar free maple syrup. YUM!
Bon Apetit!

If cold winter mornings make the thought of a frosty shake unbearable... or you want a delicious treat to help you unwind after a long day at work - try any variety of this Chai Tea Hottie.
Fancy coffee shops will charge you 4 bucks for a chai latte - but you can create your own version using any dark chai tea and a scoop of HMR 120 Vanilla Shake. Not only will you save $$ - but with 11 grams of protein per scoop - this hot treat is packed with protein, too.
You will need:
1 Scoop HMR 120 Vanilla Shake
3/4 C Hot Water
1 Chai Teabag
Dash cinnamon (optional)
Directions:
Brew tea, pour in blender (or just stir in a mug!). Add shake mix and blend on high until frothy. Top with cinnamon.
You can use HMR 500 or HMR 800 with this recipe. HMR 70+ lactose free works best as a cold shake or pudding, so try chilling the tea before blending for a chai tea smoothie.
Keep a packet of HMR 500 Vanilla or HMR 800 Vanilla or pre-measured scoop of HMR 120 Vanilla shake in your purse and you can mix up this nutritious tea latte whenever you are on the go!
Bon Apetit!

Ever wonder what to do with those bananas that look great when you take them home from the store and then turn dark brown and spotty the very next day?
Mom used to make banana bread. But for those of us who shake - not bake - here's a terrific solution.
Peel the bananas and freeze in plastic baggies until you're ready to make a delicious HMR smoothie or ice cream. Frozen bananas make your HMR shakes thicker and even more delicious than ripe bananas.
To add texture and variety, just chop 1/2 of your frozen banana into small bits and fold into your shake after you pour it in your cup.
Use frozen bananas with vanilla or chocolate shakes, HMR 120, HMR 500, HMR 800 or HMR 70+. Add fat free sugar free jello pudding flavors like white chocolate, butterscotch or cheesecake. Go bananas!
Bon Apetit!

It's November already and the wind is blowing the leaves around. If you are like me, facing a frosty cold shake seems a little less inviting now that it's cold and dark outside.
No worries. HMR shakes are versatile and will help you manage your weight no matter what the weather.
This week's HMR Shake of the Week Recipe - HMR Hot Hot Hot Chocolate is just the beginning of your warm winter recipes. Be creative. Add a drop of peppermint, a hint of cinnamon, or a teaspoon of instant coffee for variety. Make this shake in a pot on the stove and stir slowly for a real hot chocolate experience - top with a dollop of fat free cool whip for a treat you'll really love.
(Use HMR 120, HMR 800 or HMR 500 for this shake - HMR 70+ chocolate makes a lovely pudding but will cook if you heat it on the stove.)
HMR Hot Hot Hot Chocolate
1-2 Scoops HMR 120 Chocolate Shake
1 T Hersey's Baking Cocoa
12-14 oz Water
Mix ingredients with a whisk in a saucepan on low to medium heat until mixture thickens. Serve hot.
Don't let a change of season keep you from working on your weight. Take the opportunity to heat up your healthy lifestyle - and send us your ideas!

One of the things that is crucial to the longevity of any healthy lifestyle plan is taste. And when you endeavor to create a wide variety of taste sensations you are much more likely to stick with a healthy diet and manage your weight more successfully long term.
Last week, I was waiting for a new shipment of my favorite HMR 120 vanilla shake and had but one scoop left in the canister. I am accustomed to making double shakes so I grabbed a packet of HMR 800 vanilla shake, added it to the HMR 120 and blended it up with about a cup of water, a cup of frozen blueberries, and ice. The result? A thicker, more filling, ice cream shake which I enjoyed every afternoon with a spoon.
It was my shake of the week. It got me thinking that some of you might be looking for a new recipe now and again so I have decided to offer a "Shake of the Week" blog. Look for it on Mondays.
Here's My HMR Shake of the Week Blueberry Ice Cream recipe:
1 scoop HMR 120
1 packet HMR 800
1 cup Water
1 C Frozen Blueberries
1 Tray Ice Cubes
Put ingredients in blender in this order: water, HMR shake, blueberries, ice. Blend on low until ice reaches blades then blend on high until creamy, thick and smooth.
You can also freeze this shake for about an hour for a blueberry sorbet that melts like ice cream on the spoon. Yum.

For many of us, HMR shakes are the cornerstone of our weight management plan. A shake for breakfast, lunch, snack or dessert always does the trick for me.
But long term use of the HMR shakes can lose it's luster as time wears on, and unless you can commit to trying new recipes, you may end up putting the same old shake in the ho hum section of your healthy diet plan.
Here's a simple reminder of the incredible variety you can create with a little daring and a lot of imagination:
To prepare your shakes use a blender with lots of ice or a food processor to make a mousse. Heat up the shakes in the micro or on the stovetop. Freeze shakes for an hour or a day. Combine different HMR shake formulas (HMR 120, HMR 800, HMR 500, HMR 70+) and vanilla shakes with chocolate.
Add in extracts, flavorings, spices, baking cocoa, fat free sugar free jello pudding, or diet soda. Blend shakes with coffee or chai tea iced or hot.
Layer and swirl HMR 70+ puddings using a variety of flavor combinations.
And then there's the fruit... fresh canned, frozen. Blended smooth or folded in. Mixed fruit combos and fruits mixed with any of the add ins mentioned above.
New favorite? HMR 70+ chocolate pudding with butterscotch fat free sugar free jello pudding and thawed frozen dark cherries. WOW!
Get out your aprons and get back to basics with HMR shakes. The possibilities are endless!
